Living Hope’s Teen’s Ministry

Our youth ministry is separated into two age groups: Grades 6-8 and High School. At Living Hope we seek to offer a variety of activities for teens to be involved in that offer the opportunity to connect with other teens and to share, experience and grow in their faith.

For All our Teens...
The newest opportunity for all our teens to become involved in is our program "CHAOS" (Challenge, Honor, Accept, Outreach, Serve).
Challenge — To challenge Living Hope to congregate as a family of believers in fun and learning
Honor — To honor each other and God
Accept — To accept each other for who we are
Outreach — Invite others to join in!
Serve — To serve as a congregation, all ages working together on outreach projects

CHAOS grew out of the dream and desire of our Youth Ministry leader Theresa Conklin to bring people of all ages together - whole families, single people, single parents, couples with children, couples without children, grandparents, everyone - for fun, sharing and learning.

For 6th to 8th Graders...
Our 6th to 8th graders are invited to join Confirmation classes held during the school year. Each year focusses on a different aspect of our faith including The Old and New Testaments, Jesus' life, death and resurrection, the sacraments and using our gifts. At the end of this 3-year program, students can decide if they wish to confirm their faith in Jesus Christ for themselves. In addition to these classes and CHAOS, students are invited to attend a retreat each year and to join in fun activities and service projects.

For High Schoolers...
Along with CHAOS, our High School students have special events and service projects throughout the year. In the past we have attended weekend retreats and yearly mission trips to South Dakota, Minnesota and Arkansas. We've also had fun at a corn maze, an Invite-A-Friend Lock-in, camping and canoeing, pool parties and more!

Any high school student that likes to play an instrument and/or sing is invited to join the Praise Monkees, Living Hope's youth band. The Praise Monkees play at youth worship services and during Vacation Bible School.

For 6th to 8th Graders and High Schoolers Together...
A lot of times our Jr. & Sr. High groups will work together to serve in Jesus' name. Working along with the Giving Hope Ministry, we have served at the Greater Chicago Food Depository and Morning Star Mission. Each year we serve our congregation during Labor Day Weekend at the Frankfort Fall Fest by working the church corn booth.

Our Jr. & Sr. High students also serve during Living Hope's Youth Sunday's. They become the worship assistants and leaders, lead the music and in the past have even given the sermon.

Most importantly, at Living Hope, our youth are not the church of the future; they are the church of today!
