The name of Living Hope Lutheran Church's puppet team came from the Hebrew verb Yadah which means to worship with extended hand, perfect for a puppet ministry. Our ministry verse is from Psalm 63:4: I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
Prior to the formation of the team, several members of Living Hope Lutheran Church attended a One-Way Street training festival in February 2008. We were able to take classes, watch other churches perform and purchase puppets with grant funds and donations. This festival was a great way to connect with other churches and learn from how they did things in their puppet ministry. It was an awesome jumpstart to our new ministry.
The team recently participated in One Way Street's Puppet Ministry Festival in Tinley Park. On February 27, the team entered its first Puppet Ministry Competition. Puppeteers Megan & Mark Fitzgerald, Miranda Joebgen, Jacob & Grace Pieczynski and Ryan Olson along with directors Chris & Ed Olson performed the song Noah from Bullfrogs & Butterflies. Yadah Yadah Puppet Team received a Bronze Award and the Outstanding Originality Award for their puppet performance. The team also participated in the puppetry festival's workshops in ballooning, ventriloquism, choreography and technical seminars. Megan Fitzgerald participated in the puppet lip sync competition and placed 4th.
Yadah Yadah Puppet Team is currently raising funds through their fair trade Divine Chocolate sale and the Adopt-A-Puppet program to enable them to purchase a portable stage and other puppet needs so that they can perform in the community.
